In the field of electric energy meters, we often use current transformers, which can turn large currents into small currents for measurement or system protection. The main function is to convert the large current into a standard small current (5A or 1A, both refer to the rated value) in proportion to realize the standardization and miniaturization of measuring instruments, protection instruments and automatic control instruments.
The principle of current transformer is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The current transformer is composed of a closed core and windings. Its primary winding has a few turns, which is stringed in the line of the current that needs to be measured, so it often has all the current of the line flowing, and the secondary winding has more turns, which is connected in series with the measuring instrument and the protection circuit. When the current transformer (CT) is working, its secondary circuit is always closed, so the impedance of the series coil of the measuring instrument and the protection circuit is very small, and the working state of the current transformer is close to short circuit.
