What is Wired Smart Grid Communication

Power Line Communication (PLC) is a technology that allows data to be transmitted over existing power lines. Using this technology, we can use the power line that transmits current as a communication carrier, load and transmit high-frequency signals containing information through the power line, and finally use a dedicated demodulator to separate the signal and send it to the terminal device.

PLC greatly reduces the cost and improves the efficiency of information transmission. PLC is divided into broadband PLC and narrowband PLC. Generally speaking, narrowband PLC system is mainly used for communication frequency bands below 500kHz. PLCs are widely used in technologies such as smart grids and micro-inverters.

In the smart grid, PLC can solve practical problems such as transformer relationship, three-phase imbalance, household disturbance, etc. for power companies and consumers.
