  • Q: What is the maximum distance for the RS485 cable?

    A: Using high-quality shielded twisted-pair cable, the RS485 bus can reach up to 1,200 meters, though repeaters may be needed for very long runs with many nodes.

  • Q: Do I need a termination resistor?

    A: Yes, for long cable runs or high baud rates, a 120-ohm resistor should be placed across the A and B lines at both ends of the bus to prevent signal reflections.

  • Q: Can I change the Modbus ID?

    A: Yes, the slave ID (Address) can be configured from 1 to 247 via the meter’s keypad or through a Modbus command using a laptop and an RS485-to-USB adapter.

  • Q: Can I read the meter with a USB adapter?

    A: Yes, by using a simple RS485-to-USB converter and free software like Modscan or our own configuration tool, you can read and configure the meter easily from any PC.
