How Can You Determine If An Electric Energy Meter Is Functioning Properly While In Use?

An electric energy meter which is an instrument used to measure and record electricity consumption. Its normal operation and measurement accuracy directly affect the normal operation of the power system as well as the power rights and interests of users. In daily life, ordinary people can judge whether an electric energy meter is functioning properly by using the following methods:

 

1. Check if the appearance of the electric energy meter is intact and free from any damages or scratches. Then, check if all the functions of the electric energy meter are working properly, including the clarity of the display screen, flexibility of buttons, and normalcy of the communication interface. If any problems are found, please contact the relevant department(s) in a timely manner to arrange for repairs or replacement.

2. The electric energy meter is typically equipped with a device that displays the usage of electrical energy. In use, pay close attention to whether the reading on the meter is stable and if there are any abnormal fluctuations. If the reading of the meter is unstable or there are abnormal fluctuations, it is likely that the electric energy meter is faulty and needs to be inspected and repaired by the relevant department.

3. Check the flashing of the pulse indicator of the electric energy meter: You can disconnect all electrical appliances in the home to see whether it flashes. If it does not flash or only flashes once, it means that the installation of the electric energy meter is running normally. Turn on the electrical appliances of different powers in the home separately and observe the flashing of the pulse indicator of the electric energy meter. The greater the power, the faster the flashing.

4. For an electric energy meter that displays voltage, current, and electricity usage, users can compare power parameters to make informed decisions about their consumption. The voltage between L and N is measured using a multimeter and then compared to the displayed value on the electric energy meter. Turn on the electric kettle with a power of 1.
